5 Must-Do Adventures On Oahu, Hawaii

Do you ever feel like you’ve been to a place when in reality you haven’t? Driven the streets, seen the people, relaxed on those beaches. Well, unless you played Test Drive (a free-roam video game based on the island) then Dustin’s description and clear love for Hawaii will certainly be scratching your travel itch in no time!

Dustin from That Adventure Life joins us again for his second of three episodes on Hawaii. This time: O’ahu

Get Your Aloha On

Kicking off the episode, Dustin describes some differences that you’ll find on Oahu. In the North you will find the more ‘traditional’ Hawaii. Or in hindsight, maybe even ‘stereotypical’. A very laid back, chilled-out tour guide is likely to rock up in his sandals and take you out on your 10:00 excursion at 10:45.

Much like Tonga, it definitely runs on “Island Time” here.

By contrast, the South has the main city of Honolulu, where you’ll find malls and bars right by the beach and surf. Dustin and I agreed, doesn’t really do it for us, but a great place to relax with a drink after a long day of hiking!

Adventures On Oahu

The first adventure we jump into is a good hike down to the Makapoo tide pools, pictured above. One of the best things about recording these episodes with travel writers is their knowledge.

Listening to the podcast, you can hear just how much Dustin and Vy love Hawaii, and their knowledge of the ins-and-outs of adventures and locations gives some great foundations.

But don’t relax in the tide pools for long. It’s only a matter of moments before Dustin starts talking about getting in the shark tanks and delving down. Maybe a love/hate thing with a lot of you, but you can’t argue that it’s not an adventure! Unless you’re planning on building your own shark cage, I recommend checking out that link to see who they used.

Hear the episode to listen about more adventures. Staying on sea and doing a spot of whale watching, a stairway to heaven, and some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, Dustin gives you the low-down on your 5 must-do adventures on Oahu!

Reaching Oahu

This episode was really fun to record, but not just on the face of it.

This year has been hard for all of us in one way or another. Hearing about new destinations has helped to scratch that travel itch, and Oahu seems like heaven. Hikes, waterfalls, the ocean, stunning sunsets and a city nearby to help with supplies.

It’s just another location added to the ever growing bucket list, and battling to keep its high ranking position!

With holiday plans cancelling and re-arranging left, right, and centre, Dustin was great company to chat about somewhere new that I hope all of you enjoy hearing about.

That Adventure Life

Dustin and Vy are a couple based in California. They love adventure and exploring, and if you do too then absolutely check out their blog here. Look for the magnifying search button on the right side and just search for a location!

Plus, they know their stuff, and if 5 adventures weren’t enough for you then why not have 10 by clicking here.

I have been lucky enough to record several episodes of the Between The Mountains Podcast with Chris. His interviews are really top notch. He asks the perfect questions and gives his listeners a great glimpse into not only the adventures that he covers, but also a look into those who are out there pushing the boundaries of what humans are capable of.
