Bonita Norris is a truly inspiring woman and role model for many. With a unique and admirable story behind her climb of Everest, she has gone on to be the youngest British woman to summit Everest and reach the North Pole.
Not only that, but with a huge mountaineering experience and background, we talk about mindset and taking control of your life. Read on and listen to find out more!

From Seminar To Summit – Laying A Brick At A Time
One of the most fascinating things about Bonita’s Everest climb is how it began. She wasn’t a bidding mountaineer who, over many years, grew her aspirations to fit her skill set.
Bonita, instead, set her sights on Everest first. Then, having never climbed in her life before, set about the training and achievements necessary to complete this.
Attending a seminar with her friend, Bonita was captivated by the possibility of seeing the curvature of the Earth from atop Everest. She broke down the goal into necessary training steps, and just worked hard to make sure each small step was completed as perfectly as possible.
The determination and grit was met by adversity, including her family who (for the most part) continued to write it off, saying “people likes us don’t climb Everest”. Bonita continued to stay true to her passion though, kept at it, and… well, the rest is history!

Limitations and Perception
Those limitations are really relatable, I feel. Dreaming big can often be met by adversity. The mindset seems to be “I wouldn’t do that, so why are you?”.
The majority of the family kept trying to dissuade her to keep her safe, claiming that it’s not something they do coming from Bracknell, UK. But, Bonita knew from overcoming bulimia that only she can make the change and her dream happen.
It is often natural for loved ones to try and keep you safe. It’s good to take on board what they say, but so much better to still form your own opinion and chase your goals.
Regret is a horrible feeling to have later in life.
