After the first five hundred miles, she continued to do this and complete this task while have a massively debilitating leg injury.

She is a lawyer, professional endurance athlete, keynote speaker, brand ambassador for Atkins, on North Face explorer’s team, and a Polar Ambassador to the UK. Jenny has travelled and raced some of the toughest and longest races endurance events in the world from the arctic to the desert. From this, she has built a huge backing to her name.

Back Yourself

One of the key, inspiring takeaways from the chat with Jenny is to just back yourself and go for it. Once Jenny puts her mind to something, it’ll get done.

This applies to the planning, training, and research phases. But it also stands for the expedition herself. 500 miles in to her unassisted solo ski to the South Pole, Jenny got ‘Polar Thigh’, and incredibly badly. For those who aren’t phased by gore, check out the Instagram post below.

Most people would have given up, but Jenny just pushed on. Determined to reach the South Pole with everything she had. Admirable!

Fantastic Foundations

Jenny’s upbringing is almost perfect. Learning French as a first language, exploring the jungles of Borneo, moving around with her family, Jenny was always outdoors and playing.

Unfortunately, although quite understandably, her only real issues came when she moved to the UK, and had to deal with teenage life here.

But, this outdoor foundation has given her the passion and drive to go and succeed, and also to push her limits.

Exploring The Limits

Jenny decided to take part in an Arctic Ultra 250 race. Despite falling through ice on the run, this ignited a fire within her. She had always put off cold weather, and now she had completed it – and loved it – Jenny started questioning where else she can push herself.

This seems to to be a winning quality in most of the guests on this show. That drive to push and keep exploring after the first time seems to multiply within them. That is certainly the case here. Jenny has gone on to complete several expeditions and endurance races, and has climbed mountains like Denali, Mount Vinson and more.

“I had an absolute blast doing this podcast and was actually sad when our time was up! Having a host who has done their homework is something I’ve found to be critical when appearing as a guest and I’m sure it’s more enjoyable for the listeners too. Chris entirely delivers on that front so a great experience all round” Jenny Wordsworth, Polar Explorer and Endurance Athlete, Episode 80
